Red Lodge Provincial Park Camping

This little pieces of paradise is located about 40min from Red Deer just past Bowden AB. This not so hidden gem has been on our radar for a couple years now for its easy location and beautiful river running along side the campsites. This campground is not for anyone seeking a solo camping tip, not even a camping trip with some privacy. This place was packed on a Monday night we were lucky to even have a spot to camp in! But that’s okay sometimes too. With a couple parks, a volleyball court and the windy river to tube in, you can hear the laugher and fun being throughout the campground.

I personally prefer something a little less busy but if we had a family, small children or a large group this would be fun to try. There are showers and a convince store to offer you yummy ice cream snacks on a hot summers day. The campsites are clean and well kept as well as the washrooms. They are still powerless but most sites have power themselves so its catered to full service RV’s.

We did try our luck fishing but had to walk a fair distance up the little red deer river to even find some waters that were not filled with swimmers and floaters but did not succeed! The wood they sell at the campsite is also good as its sealed in wrap and not damp like most campgrounds!

Overall this was great for just a night away in the outdoors! The birds and coyotes howled all night making it really feel like summer!!
